Obsidian x Morgen

Obsidian is a flexible and powerful platform for plain text task management. Yet, having tasks scattered across many notes can become overwhelming and great ideas are too easily lost in the vault.

Morgen is the first integration to bring Obsidian tasks to your calendar for effortless planning and prioritizing.
Notion now integrates with Morgen.

Pair Obsidian with all calendars

Morgen brings Obsidian together with all your calendars.

Whether you use Fastmail, Apple, Google, Outlook, a niche CalDAV, or a mix thereof, connect them all.

This isn't just a calendar widget or basic plugin for Obsidian.

  • See your Obsidian tasks alongside your calendar
  • Drag and drop tasks into your calendar for effortless time blocking
  • Time blocks are added to your connected calendars, defending planned work time from double bookings

Configured your way

Flexibly configured

Configure which tasks, directories and files should sync with Morgen.

If you use the Obsidian Tasks plugin, you can locally sync Obsidian and Morgen:

  • choose the notes, directories and files to sync
  • let Morgen generate task IDs or create them manually
  • use the Morgen Tasks plugin to hide or convert task IDs to emojis

Mark it complete

Task status sync

Task status syncs from Morgen to Obsidian.

When you mark a task complete in Morgen, status and done date will update automatically in Obsidian.

Even recurrent tasks are supported, generating a new instance upon completion of the previous one.

Advanced time blocking

Time blocking is one of the most effective ways to protect the time you need to focus on work that matters.

Mobile reminders

While the integration is local only, once scheduled, view time blocked tasks and receive notifications on mobile.

Keep tasks private

If others have permission to view your calendar, set scheduled tasks to private to show only that you're busy at that time.

Free or busy?

Set important task-time to busy to protect it from being booked over.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Morgen without the Obsidian Tasks plugin?
At this time, Morgen's Obsidian integration requires the use of the Obsidian Tasks plugin, paired with having Emoji task format enabled. The alternative syntax of the plugin Dataview task format is not currently supported.

If you would like to see it supported in future releases, please vote for it on our roadmap.
Can I use the Obsidian integration across all my devices?
Morgen's Obsidian integration is local only at this time.

You can install Morgen on the desktop device(s) where you use Obsidian, including macOS, Windows, and Linux.

Morgen's mobile app (iOS and Android) does not support the integration in full at this time. However, it will display any scheduled Obsidian tasks in the calendar view and widget, and show notifications based on desktop settings. Tasks that have not been scheduled will not be visible from mobile.
Which Obsidian tasks will be imported to Morgen?
When you configure your Obsidian integration, you decide whether tasks from all notes should be imported, or only tasks from notes which have been edited in the past 30 days. This option is to avoid syncing a massive number of tasks, many of which may be outdated or no longer high priority.

Additionally, you can decide whether Morgen should import only tasks with IDs or all tasks. If you choose the latter, Morgen will automatically generate unique task IDs, which will be applied in your Obsidian notes.
What does the Morgen Task plugin do?
Right now, the sole function of the Morgen Task plugin is to hide or minimize the distraction of task IDs. Morgen requires all tasks that are imported to have IDs, whether they are manually added by you or automatically created by Morgen.
We know these IDs add visual clutter in Obsidian. When you intall the Morgen Task plugin, you can choose to hide the IDs or convert them to an emoji (a simple light grey box).

We plan to add more functionality to the plugin over time.
Is the Obsidian integration available on all plans?
Morgen task integrations are available to Morgen Pro subscribers. You can test it during your 14 day free trial to see if it's right for you.
